Leading Poker Variants and How They Differ From Each Other

Poker is one of the most played card games in the world and is available in a large number of varieties. There are many types of poker, and every type of poker has its own rules, approach and interest. If you are playing for fun, for stakes or particularly more importantly on Bitcoin Poker Sites, it is crucial to know the differences between these poker games. Here are some of the many poker games and how they are different from each other.

Texas Hold’em

Texas Hold’em is the most played poker game and is used in most tournaments and online games. This game involves each of the players being given two cards that are not shared with other players, these are the hole cards, and there are five shared cards that are placed in the centre of the table and placed face up. These seven cards are then used to make the best five card poker hand that is possible. It is played in a number of rounds, and at the end of the last round, the player with the best cards wins the money placed in the pot. Because of the easy rules and the hidden complexity in this game, Texas Hold’em is preferred by players across the globe.

Omaha

Omaha is similar to Texas Hold’em but with a key difference: each player is provided with four-hole cards, contrary to the normal two cards that are provided to each player. However, a player has to make their hand using two of the hole cards and three community cards only. This rule makes the game more challenging since there are many more possible hands than in the game without this rule. Omaha is usually played as a pot-limit where the maximum bet amount is the size of the current pot, which makes for large fluctuations and rather interesting gameplay.

Seven-Card Stud

Texas Hold’em was not the most popular poker variant before it took over from Seven-Card Stud. There are no community cards dealt with in this game. However, it is seven cards to a player with three of them being faced down and the other four faced up. The players have to come up with the best five-card hand, which is derived from these seven cards.

The game has five betting rounds, and the face-up cards make the game have an element of guesswork and bluffing since the other players are visible.

Razz

Razz is a rather unorthodox poker game in which the objective is to obtain the worst possible hand. It is, in fact, quite the reverse of most poker games, where the player with the stronger hand triumphs. In Razz, straights and flushes are not counted against you, and the best possible hand is A-2-3-4-5, known as the “wheel. “As with Seven-Card Stud, players are dealt seven cards, and the worst five-card poker hand wins.

Five-Card Draw

Five-card draw poker is one of the simplest forms of poker and can be the first to be learned by a new player.

Every player is given five face-down cards, and after a round of betting, the player can exchange any number of those cards. Then there is the draw, followed by one more betting round, and the player with the best five-card poker hand takes the pot. The simplicity of Five-Card Draw is what makes this variant less appealing to professional players, but it is fun to play.

Chinese Poker

Chinese Poker is not like most of the other poker games that are played in the world. Each player receives 13 cards and must arrange them into three hands: five-card, two five-card hands, and one three-card hand. It is to have a better set of hands than your opponents, and the hands have to be formed in a particular way. Chinese Poker is usually played in terms instead of chips, and it is a very thinking man’s game.
